Equiversal Client Testimonials

Suzanne Sweeney

Learning & Development Manager Corporate
Wales Community Rehabilitation Company / Cwmni Adsefydlu Cymunedol Cymru

Within weeks of our initial discussions on the concepts of the training we required, Mark was able to design and develop a comprehensive session for delivery with our staff.  The session encompassed our own policies and enabled participants to discuss their own concerns both in the workplace and when working with clients.  All of the sessions delivered received very positive feedback from participants including how their confidence and ability to challenge had improved by taking part.

We would have no hesitation in utilising Equiversal for future training and in recommending them to other clients.

Mark has delivered a number of sessions for us at Caerphilly CBC. Courses have included Sexual Orientation Awareness, Hate Crime Awareness and more recently he has delivered Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Awareness for us in preparing registration officers from across South East and West Wales to deliver Same Sex Marriages from March 29th.

The courses Mark has delivered have received very positive comments from course participants.

The Access 4 All Equalities Forum is a quarterly run engagement and awareness raising event run by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.  The purpose is to allow us to engage with all of the protected characteristics, while also taking the opportunity to raise awareness on a wide range of topics.  We were fortunate to secure the services of Equiversal at our event back on 2nd October, where Mark gave a presentation on Hate Crime to an audience which featured a broad range of protected characteristics.

Hate Crime is a subject which is difficult to talk about, especially with a number of vulnerable people being present, but Mark was able to present a difficult and emotive subject with clarity, authority and no little empathy.  Mark was able to make us all realise that Hate Crime can affect anyone and more importantly, what we can do about it.  Mark’s presentation was very engaging with an effective variety of PowerPoint, discussions and videos to get the message across.  I would certainly recommend Equiversal and will be using them again in the future.

We’d like to thank you, Mark, for the excellent awareness sessions you provided to the South Wales Regional Training Group as part of our planning for the implementation of The Marriages (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013. The sessions were just what we asked for – fun, interesting and informative. We look forward to working with you in the future.

Festival Director
Iris Prize

When the Iris Prize decided to expand its activity to include education and outreach we decided to work with Mark Williams.

The relationship and activity has grown from the initial education day at the 2012 festival to an ambitious outreach programme which is being delivered with three Cardiff based secondary schools in 2014, funded by the Film Agency for Wales. Mark has also been given access to the Iris Prize short film database to use in schools as part of his anti-homophobic bullying workshops. I had the pleasure of seeing Mark deliver a session using one of the Iris Prize short films and was impressed at how he was able to use moving image to engage and secure the proactive response of the pupils. The Iris Prize is committed to having an education and outreach programme as part of our core activity and working with Mark Williams is key to our delivery strategy.

Equiversal is fantastic! The pupils at my school had time to reflect on equalities issues during a PSE day. It is so important that we ensure that all aspects of equality is discussed in an open, transparent and honest way. By doing this, stereotypes are broken down and ignorance is faced and challenged. Equiversal is the best way to challenge these issues.
